LSI is an acronym for Langlier Saturation Index. The Langlier Saturation Index was developed by Professor W.F. Langlier in 1936 to calculate pH at which calcium will not precipitate out of solution. When the calculated pH is subtracted from the actual solution pH, the difference is the LSI. A positive LSI indicates a scaling tendency. A negative LSI indicates a corrosive tendency.
